This weekend I love my friends so much that I decided to run down the street with them, have random conversations with people I've never met, hug strangers, and finish with pizazz. I am NOT a runner. I am a cyclist. When asked if I was going to run by my friend Jenn - I said - "No because my ovaries will fall out". When asked randomly if I was going to have the swine flu shot by Rose - I said "No, the way I look at it, it's a great chance to lose 20 lbs".
When asked if I could smile for the camera with Alanna - I said - "Me? (I was so confused - why would anyone want a picture with me - oh - duh - blackmail and facebook)" So what the heck! I did! (I do love this girl though) Sorry about the 'Let's get Physical' headband - it was the only purple I had..." (Go Olivia Newton John!) (...and while we're on the subject - go John Travolta.....) (wait - shiny bright keys, pass the meds) You can see how random the morning was for me! I couldn't believe how much fun I had! It was the birth of a new 5K - The Walk for Popsqueak (Pancreatic Cancer) (Not a nice cancer either) Popsqueak is Russ, who was a business associate with Del at ATK - and his daughter, and my friend, is Sherilyn whom I've known (and loved) from Willow Canyon and they have a lot of love to share - so they brought us all together to do just that for an important cause. Now - because I do not run - I do not run on roads, I do not run down mountains, I do not, I can not, Sam I am, I said I would at least walk it. I went to my spin class that morning killing off my legs, and then went over to the 5K - of which I actually ran... dur dur dur. My final comment - "And after 4 1/2 hours I finished". Not really, but it wasn't pretty - so I made the most of it.
(ok - who do I kill for posting this to facebook?) I figured that I might as well actually steal and claim the photos from my friends and their camera happy clutches. I loved this picture because you don't know if I'm trying to catch flies for protein, air out my hairy armpits, trying to pull the wedgie out from my cycling shorts (BTW Ashley - there is some definition there under that fat...) (It might need a definition, so let's name it at another time ok?), OR hoping that when those cars behind me actually run over me - that it won't hurt very much before I die. NEVER THE LESS - Thanks for all of the hard work girlies - I personally loved the bananas! Russ - you made me cry - and when it all comes down to it - you've certainly got a lot of people that love you and in this world - that's a pretty great thing to have. I hope I can live my life so as to earn the respect of even half the people that came in your honor yesterday. Be brave now ok? I am glad to run for body parts anytime. I refused to do the Ulcer this past year because they were giving the $$ to the "Improve the Bobsled Slide at Park City" PLEEEAAse folks - let's remember what's more important here. Ok - any more friends need me to run for something? I'll be there, it might not - no it WILL NOT be pretty - but I love you for letting me be a part of the journey. CYA next year! (PS - Auntie Karin ran the 5K for the Komen Foundation in California this morning!!!! (We do that one in the spring in Utah - we have to - just to keep warm) Way to go Karin & Friends!) So....go out and freaking get involved, it makes the heart happy. (DUH NIKKI I AM SOOO LAME!) (:

You put that perfectly! I loved your post! I have a hard time expressing feelings close to my heart! I have gained a love for 5K's (and other races) because they are usually for a good cause! I am always up for doing a 5K if it goes to a good cause! Like you said, It makes my heart happy! And sometimes I have to look for reasons to "be of good cheer."
Thanks for coming out and supporting us! It meant a lot! YOu will never know how much it meant!!!!
THAT"S MY BOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are so LAME but, you sure make me smile! If I could get a little Nicole, and keep it in my pocket.... I WOULD!!!!! Love ya!!!
Thank you so much for coming and supporting us! We went to dinner that night with Popsqueak and mom. They talked about you and Del the whole time! They love you guys, and were so excited that you came out!! It meant a lot to my dad that you were there!! Love Ya!!
Way to go! I thought the picture looked like you were having a Rocky moment... very inspiring, but protein flies and hairy armpits are good interpretations, too. You really are amazing and I'm glad you got to run for a cause. That is always fun and feels great (usually after the race more than in the middle of the third mile - I never like running until I'm done doing it).
